Tailoring Training

Short Term Training Programmes are conducted in our Tailoring Training Center. Students begin with a 3 month programme and those that display creativity and aptitude are encouraged to train further and consider working in garment factories. Some have used the training to earn extra income by doing job work at home.

The target group is women in the age group of 16 – 30.

St James Academy has trained more than 500 women, most of whom have only a few years of schooling and no formal secondary school qualification. Since February 2020, St James Academy, Bangalore has tied up with Singer India Limited and is a recognized Singer Sewing School.

Enterprise Development

 St James Academy works with its sister Organisations -The Divya Shanthi Trust and The Bridge Foundation to provide micro loans to help our Tailoring students and members of our Self Help Groups set up their own Small Businesses. 

A multitude of women have benefited from these loans over the years.

Tradesmen / Craftsmen Training

Vocational Training programmes in Carpentry, Electrical wiring and Plumbing have been conducted for young men aged between 16 and 25. 

The courses were conducted in-house in the fully equipped Professional St James Academy Training Workshop, the courses were of 6 months duration.

More than 25 individuals have benefited from this programme.

Computer Basics

  St James Academy conducts Basic Computer Training Programmes for young people whose schooling does not include computers. This Programme is for students in the age group 15 to 20 studying in the Divya Shanthi High School – particularly those students who have enrolled in our non formal education programme through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The students make use of our computer lab, and trainer to learn the basics of using a computer and Microsoft Office. Till date we have provided Basic Computer Training to more than 1000 Students.

TALLY: Computerized Accounting Programme. Tally is the most popular accounting software used by small and large businesses and institutions in India. Expertise gained in Tally improves employment opportunities of the candidate with good remuneration. The certificate is awarded by the Tally institute and recognized globally. More than 250 students with a minimum qualification of 12 years of schooling attended and completed the course.
